DAY 3 - We met a little earlier today because I had to be at my phone at 11 to call Jury Duty. Today there were only 5 of us: Jan E, Louise C, Gail K, Sabrina P and me. I actually ran 4 straight laps - that's 1 full mile - all at one time! Jan ran with me part of the time while Louise "totally" power walked her butt off! She's the pace keeper! Gail joined us for the first time and did great. Sabrina joined us 20 minutes later and she & I walked/ran the rest together (after she did a half mile run and I walked).

I recommend you don't bring a lot of stuff with you. Find a place to hide your key on your body (like tie it to your shoe lace or put it in your bra!) and that way you'll have nothing in your way. If you drink some water before you come and some when you are done you will probably be just fine. I read we are designed to go a lonnnng distance without water.

So ultimately, I walked/ran for 50 minutes - probably 1.5 miles run and (lost count) walk. Today we were joined by fire fighters (including Olga, Tara) and a TON of elementary school kids. It's a mini-sub-culture of its own!

We will be running/walking/trotting/jogging next Monday/Wednesday 10:30 AM SBCC track! I am expecting all of you who said you were coming and haven't shown up yet... Now DON'T make me write your names down...

Day 2 - Went well. There were six of us today: Me, Jan E, Sabrina P, Nancy B, Tybie and Louise C. Some walked and some walked/trotted. On a personal note, I (along with Sabrina) trotted 1.25 miles (split) and walked another 1.25 miles. Everyone did great! Cool weather helped.

I hope those of you who said you would like to come, will! You are all invited. And hey, fire fighters were walking the track too! Always helps to have a little "eye candy"!

So today Jan E. and I did DAY 1 of SBCC track! We met at 10:30 promptly and walked 2 laps, jogged 3, walked 2, jogged 2, walked 1. So all in all we traveled 2.50 miles in 30 minutes. We won't win any prizes for that, but we kept a nice and easy pace, and since my personal goal is to not overdo it (again!) and to leave feeling good, we did it! So, if you'd like to meet us there to walk at your own pace, jog a bit, run like hell or whatever, I plan to be there (unless jury duty rears its ugly head) for the next 6 weeks (through June 19th) Monday and Wednesday 10:30 AM for 30 minutes (or so).

I want to start running, a little at a time, so starting tomorrow, every Monday & Wednesday for six weeks, I plan to be at city college track at 10:30 AM for 30 minutes or so to build up to a full 30 minute run! Would you like to join me? I will be leaving Tone-Up at 10:15 AM if you'd like to carpool (I have a parking permit with the Harbor). We can log what we've done and see how we improve. My goal is to be able to maintain a steady pace, run a couple miles and drop a couple pounds in that time. What about you?

Please let me know if you'd like a ride or if you'd like to meet me. This is not a class; it's just for fun!
